When you leave your car, your teammates join you, ready for competition against the opposing team whose coach has been training you all year to beat this team.
You're very confident that you can beat this team and it's all thanks to your coach who helped you and your whole team improve.
Without a dedicated coach, a team will never reach their full potential to be the best that they can be
The man who makes it his dedication and job to help out the Bloomsburg Husky golf team is Gary Sohoskey.
Gary makes the effort 6 times per week to help out all of the athletes on the team no matter how busy he is in any other aspects of his life. During practice, he uses his professional background and expertise from getting approved by the Professional Golf Association of America to teach and coach golf for college athletes. Gary said, "This takes extreme dedication and patience, especially around a bunch of young guys who are in college."
as a college golf coach, it is very important to have lots of patience and dedication because if you don't then your coaching will not be as nearly as effective.
Picture from Frosty Valley Invitational (Danville, PA)Gary has been a certified pro for many years and has a large background in the professional side of the sport.
Whenever anyone needs help with something in their swing or needs any assistance
with any part of their golf swing, Gary is always happy to help with expert advice since
he is a certified pro and has been helping people for many years not just in the college
golf team at Bloomsburg.
(Bloomsburg golf team)
Gary started playing golf at a very young age and he has been playing ever since. He aspired to play and practice golf because he has always been passionate about the sport and wanted to make a career out of his knowledge and skills with the sport. He has coached many people outside of Bloomsburg and he actually taught lessons before coming to Bloomsburg.
For him, golf has very positively impacted his life and has brought him lots of joy, even though this career has some highs, it definitely has some lows too. And that comes with any profession.
If some of the players ever get bad attitudes on the course- he will try to do his best to bring
their mood up
"One of the worst things that can happen on the course is getting in your own head.
Everyone hits bad shots, but the key is to move on and not let it get into your head.”
He coaches not only the men's team but also the women's team. it just goes to show how truly dedicated and passionate he is about his career which you need to be as a coach to have a successful team.
