The Rocky series is one of America highest-grossing movies and the first one (Rocky 1) was released on November 21, 1976. the first movie earned 117 million at the box office, (Encyclopedia Britannica para. 1) which would be around 680 million dollars in today's numbers. The movie takes place in Philadelphia and is about a struggling boxer from Philadelphia who works his way up to become the heavyweight champion of the world. The movie highlights the underdog story and shows struggles that many people can relate to. According to "Britannica" this taps into the audience's emotions making them root for Rocky.
The Involvement of the Fans
The movie sparked involvement in self-care and self-improvement among the fans and there are actually articles that prove that the movie Rocky motivated people to better themselves. Multiple posts Across Reddit such as the r/Rocky Balboa group where people post all about how this movie got them into martial arts, Lifting weights, marathons, and more (r/rocky balboa). One of the most known fans of this movie would definitely have to be Mike Tyson. As scary as Mike was in the 80's, he still looked up to the legendary movie. The fans of the movie also created the Rocky video game in 2002, which was featured on Xbox and PlayStation 2. This game stated a 5 game franchise that ended up getting a lot of attention at the time that it was created. Ashton Knight mentions that "From early arcade classics to modern console hits, these games allow fans to step into the ring as Rocky Balboa and other beloved characters. Each game offers a unique experience, reflecting different eras in gaming history (Knight para.1)

There are multiple groups across almost all social media with thousands of followers that contribute to the fan pages regularly such as @therockybalboasaga on Instagram with over 55k followers. Even though the movie came out 30 years ago, there are still fans of this movie making motivational edits and clips such as this one to motivate the fans of this movie. The fanbase is still very active considering the video has 372k views and seven thousand likes. There is also a very active Rocky wiki fandom website with people posting weekly.

Fan Locations Of Rocky
There are many places that the fans of Rocky love to visit around Philadelphia such as the Museum of Art Stairs, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Independence Hall, Pats King of Steaks, and many other locations that were featured in the film. Many people will post to #Rocky when visiting these locations across social media. The fact fans still visit locations from a film created 30 years ago. Even though this movie was made over 30 years ago, all of the locations across the franchise are still regularly visited and people are still being motivated by the work of the film.
